COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

  • CBT

    Cognitive Behavioural Therapy looks at how your thoughts, emotions, physical symptoms and behaviours are connected. CBT is a proven effective treatment for depression, anxiety, panic, social phobia, low self-esteem, anger etc. CBT concentrates on the present, but sometimes it may be required to investigate your past in order to help you understand how it is affecting you now. CBT aims to adjust your thought patterns, change your behaviour and improve your mood.
  • CBT for Anxiety

    Counselling can help you in lots of ways, including helping you to come to an understanding of what might be causing your anxiety, and teaching you coping skills. The most commonly prescribed treatment for anxiety is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This aims to help you manage your problems by helping you to identify how your thoughts affect your feelings and how you behave. This can help you to break huge problems down into smaller, bite-sized chunks.
  • CBT for Depression

    Change how you think and you can change how you feel. If you have self-critical thoughts like “I’m useless”, “I’m no good”, “I’m worthless”, “It’s pointless”, and/or feel depressed, sad, hopeless, etc. then Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be very beneficial and effective. I will help you to identify your recurring negative thoughts (cognitions) and become aware of how these thoughts can influence your behaviour. I will help you to challenge these thoughts, think more realistically, improve behaviours and feel happier.

    Traumatic events such as emotional, physical or sexual abuse, accidents, illnesses, being assaulted can have devastating traumatic effects. A traumatic incident is one in which you felt there was a threat to your life, your safety, or your sanity, and where you will possibly experience a mixture of reactions that you are not familiar with, including emotional and physical responses.Everyone responds differently to trauma, experiencing different reactions. Trauma occurs when you feel shocked, disoriented and distressed, confused or fearful and you are feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope. Trauma therapy aims to help you make sense of your traumatic experiences and to help you find methods of coping and to manage your thoughts and feelings, work through your trauma and rebuild your life.
